Codex's new update may just be the best thing to happen to solo founders everywhere. Quick context, I'm a solo founder that just released her very first SaaS product and now have five paying users and they deserve the best, which lately has meant staying up in the middle of the night to address any and all bugs that arise. But I said enough and built a Codex heartbeat instead. Heartbeats are new. They let a single Codex thread wake up on a schedule and keep working with the full context of what we've already been building together. I told mine to run my user flows end to end every hour. If anything breaks, handle it and ping me in Slack. Now watch this. Even at 2:00am, Codex wakes up, runs my flow, catches a bug that would have cost me users, writes the fix and opens a PR. The bug it found is that new users were hitting an empty dashboard and thought the product was broken, so I used ImageGen in Codex to generate an illustration for that blank screen so users know what to expect. And image V2 just launched in Codex. It requires zero setup and is the best image model out right now by a wide margin. This ability to have one person run a product like a team is what makes Codex feel built for solo founders. If you're solo founding in 2026 and wanna use Codex the way I do, I've put together 10 heartbeat prompts that have given me hours of my day back. You can find the link to that along with the link to get started with Codex up in my bio.
