Hook

In October of last year, I was laid off from Amazon and it taught me one very important thing about being in corporate. You can never put all of your eggs in one basket. No matter how well performing you are or how many years you've been at the company, all of that can be gone in one single day. I had coworkers who had been in Amazon for over 10 years and they still got cut during the layoff. At the end of the day, a company is always going to prioritize their business over you as an employee, which means you can never really get too comfortable at your job. Mainly, it just made me realize that it is so important to have a safety net. So now I'm working on building that so that I don't ever get caught unprepared in the future.
