One week ago, this creator named Larpipilier started posting videos parodying OG Markiplier. Hello everybody, my name is Larpipilier. And from there, things quickly got out of hand as other people started jumping in to larp as their favorite OG creators, like LarpGuinZ0, MrLarp6000, LarpAlert, and even, what is up LarpAlert nation. Now we have an entire alternate universe of 2016 YouTube, which is really funny because at the beginning of the year, everyone was saying 2026 would be the new 2016. And this might just be the best example of that. Social media has changed a lot since 2016, and in a feed full of optimized content and AI slop, the Larp universe feels refreshingly stupid. It's a callback to the era where the internet felt less serious, and creators built audiences around weird inside jokes, low effort videos, and would just create content because it was fun, which is much needed in 2026.
