Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
I gave up on dating last month and I read four books. So let's talk about it. You're gonna want to stick around cause I promise I'm gonna have a book rec for you cause your girl has diverse taste. Starting with a book that took the internet by storm, Yesteryear. Genre: psychological suspense, social satire. Sheen's description: cost of inauthenticity & living the life you think you "should". For: food for thought, inside look into "trad wife" trend, unique storyline. If you have no idea what this book is about, it is essentially what is it like to be a tradwife. So a current day tradwife gets the taste of the medicine of what it really would be like to be a tradwife in the past. Who is this book for? If you want to know what it's like to wake up in a life you are living that is not in your authentic truth, aka your nightmare. Read this book. If you want to know what your life would look like if you have no character growth. Read this book. Just like an interesting concept overall. This is when you're gonna know I got diverse taste. Another book I read this month was Careless People, which is a memoir by Sarah Wynn-Williams. She worked at Facebook from 2011 to 2017 and she's a great writer, really interesting storytelling. This is for my business, tech obsessed girlies who want an inside look of what would it be like to work for a huge tech company and kind of get a backseat in what the decision makers are thinking. Obviously she exposes like a lot of corruption and just crazy crazy inside scoop. If you're curious about Sheryl Sandberg and her character, tea is spilled here. Title says a cautionary tale of power, greed, and lost idealism. That sums it up pretty perfectly, but very interesting. I loved it personally. After those two books, I needed a palate cleanser. So I read If Cats Disappeared From The World. Genre: fiction, magical realism, Japanese. Sheen's description: if you ever wondered what would happen if I died tomorrow? For: palate cleanser, short read, need reminder of meaning of life. I love this book. It was exactly what I needed. If you are someone who loves to grapple with mortality, the meaning of life, the meaning of what like our objects, even our pets give us. A book full of quotes that you're gonna want to highlight cause sometimes I think to myself, what would happen if I just like die tomorrow early? If you have those thoughts too. Read this book. If you have those thoughts too. The Things We Never Say by Elizabeth Strout. She is a Pulitzer winning author, so she's a good writer. This was a sad read. Wouldn't say it was like easy to get through cause it's deep and contemplative, but it was very, very fruitful. She reveals a lot. I think it's a big lesson in like, what does true loneliness mean? Like if you can be in a room full of people and be lonely, let's like meditate on that and like what that means. And then relating back to the title is the lesson in how much it can impact your life if we leave things unsaid, especially to those that we love. I think a lot of times we have a really hard time having like hard, difficult conversations and honest conversations with people we love. If that is you, I think you should read this book. So you can kind of walk away. If you're not a reader, you're probably gonna be bored and put this down. Let me know if you've read and if any of them will make it on to your TBR and tell me what you're gonna be reading in June. I have a hefty TBR list. Let me know if I should make a video on what it is.
