Hook

Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
Do you know one of the most powerful ways to start a presentation is with a jaw-dropping fact? I've got some great ones today. So much so that your audience will be hooked right from the get-go. Don't read out your name, your title, or what the presentation is all about. They know all that. And don't think everyone's there just to listen. Pause for one breath and weigh in with any of these three gob-smacking facts. Number one: there are more stars in the observable universe than grains of sand on every single beach on Earth. In other words, there are more potential customers out there that you couldn't reach in a lifetime. Every hour, the sun sends more energy to the Earth than the entire human race can use in a year. The energy to transform your business is already there, you just haven't learned to harvest it yet. And here's my favorite. Remember stories, 22 times more than facts. Basically, every pitch built on bullet points, figures, is leaving 21 versions of itself on the table. That's the equivalent of leaving money on the table. So find the facts that stop the room. Now you've got their attention. My name is Chris Hewitt, chief storyteller here at Sparktick Communications. Follow me for more tips.
