Here are five marketing careers that probably most people don't know about. And I think one of the biggest misconceptions about marketing is that people think that your only career options are social media, content creator, or maybe ad specialist. But marketing is actually a huge industry and some of the most interesting roles are the ones that people don't even know actually exist. So here are five that I think are worth paying attention to: Number one is Creative Producer. This is one of my favourite roles because this is where creativity and also the operations meet. Creative producers are the people making sure campaigns actually happen. They are coordinating locations, talents, timelines, budgets, the production teams, basically every moving piece behind a campaign. So if you're someone who loves creativity but also loves planning and organizing things, you'd probably enjoy this role. Number two is Community & Experiential Marketing. One thing that I've been noticing is that AI makes content easier and easier to create, so meaning brands are looking for ways to create things that are much harder to automate and community is definitely one of them. We're seeing more brands invest in run clubs, workshops, creator communities and events and experiences that bring people together in real life. They want connection. So if you're someone who loves bringing people together, create these experiences and building communities, this is something that you might want to dive into. Next is Creative Technologist. This role barely existed a few years ago. Now I think it's becoming one of the most interesting careers in marketing. Creative technologists sit at the intersection of creativity, marketing and technology. They're constantly experimenting with AI, tools, automations, new platforms, creative work flows to help teams work smarter. And what's exciting about this role is that it's not just about replacing creativity, it's also about figuring out how technology can actually make creativity more powerful. So if you're the type of person who's always testing tools before everyone else, I think this space is only going to get bigger. Next is Brand Strategist. Brand strategists are usually the people asking all those important questions before anything gets created. Who are we talking to? Why should people care? What do we want to be known for as a brand? They're helping shape the thinking before the content, the campaign or even the visuals get made. If you love psychology, positioning, consumer behavior and understanding people, this is a really interesting path. Next is Marketing Operations. This is probably the least glamorous role on the list but also one of the most valuable. As marketing teams get bigger and campaigns actually become more complex, somebody needs to build a system that keep everything running. So the automations, reporting, workflows, the people in these roles are often the reason everything actually functions behind the scenes. This role is only becoming more important as marketing becomes more operational and data-driven. One thing I wish more people knew is that marketing is so much bigger than just social media. There is a role for almost every type of person, whether you want to become a strategist, organizer, the tech or the people person. You just really have to figure out where you fit best.
