In light of recent events, I'm gonna show you how to fix a problematic PS4, so you don't have to buy a new one. I was just given this one and the previous owner states that it would just shut off. And I bet heavily patinated copper doubloons that it's the thermal paste. So here's how to replace it, and your console can run nice and strong for a very long time. Remove this. Then slide this part over and part over and take it off. Remove this screw and then slide out your hard drive caddy. Now with the back of the console, remove the screws behind these two stickers, behind these two stickers, this one and this one, and those screws out. And the console still upside down, pry around the edges here to pop off the bottom. Oh, how many? Oh, how many cigarettes did this thing smoke? The side of, unplug this cable. Done. And then we're going to remove these two screws here, this one here, and these two here. And with those removed, you're now going to lift this straight up. And the reason you want to go straight up is because it's actually plugged in. Going to remove our antenna. And that's going in by one screw here. Next, we're gonna remove our optical drive. So we're gonna unplug it from here and from here. And for removing ribbon cables like this, most of them have a lock somewhere on the head. You actually have on this little in order to pull. And don't forget to remove the other side as well because it's actually hiding a screw. So now remove that screw, this screw, this Phillips head, and the screw here. And now lift and out. Whole shell over. Remove these screws off the top. Now remove the three screws across, the next three screws down the side, these two across the front here, and this one, and this one. And finally, these two on the side. With those removed, now take off this. And to properly remove this, unscrew one side a little bit, the other, and and forth until it comes off. So a little side and a little bit on the other. With those removed, we can this entire shield. Next, you'll wanna disconnect this wire. And be mindful that this one lifts straight up. Now gently lift of the board towards you to remove it. You can see that stopped cooling a long time ago. So next, some Q tips and some alcohol to clean off all the old paste. And don't forget from here and from here. Super clean. Here, go ahead and give this thing a good clean. It's not perfect, but it's a lot better. And that all the fan. So now to repaste, you want to apply your thermal compound in an X. I find that most even coverage. Then carefully flip your board back and slowly drop down the top. Then just rebuild the console. Then enjoy gaming again. But I again, but I feel free to ask. As always, time and thank you.
