I took a GI Map test to find out why I have acne... (The results) I finally know at 24 years old what has been causing my acne. Oh my gosh, I feel like I could cry of relief right now. Quick backstory for those of you who don't know, my name is Lavinia. I grew up having like teenage acne as most people do, but when I went on the hormonal birth control in my early 20s, it made me feel so depressed and emotional. After getting off within that 6 to 8 month period, my skin completely flared up. Like deep cystic breakouts all over my face and that really took a hit on my confidence. I mean, I was trying everything on my own. Spearmint tea, zinc, DIM, got a Arazlo prescription, tried every skincare product in the book. I even owned my own skincare brand, but I knew my acne was a more underlying issue because even with an amazing skincare routine, at certain points in my cycle, I will break out like this. I personally didn't want to go on Accutane or another form of birth control because I personally knew, you just know when it's something deeper in your body, you have to listen to that. I didn't want to just treat my symptoms of acne without knowing why I was breaking out in the first place. And that's what led me to getting a GI Map test and the results are finally in. So I started working with Jessica. She's a skin health coach. She helped me get this GI Map test done. It's basically a DNA stool test that looks exactly at what is living in your gut. I'm talking bacteria, pathogens, inflammation markers, everything. So here's what came back. I want to be transparent about this because hopefully it'll help somebody else. We found significantly elevated H. Pylori. Now this is a bacteria in the stomach often linked to inflammation, but for some people shows up like skin issues. Crazy. So, also my gut inflammation markers were more than double the normal range and that beneficial bacteria your gut needs, yeah, nearly gone for me. When I first saw these results, it wasn't even that scary to me. It was a relief because I've been dealing with acne for 10 years. It felt like it was finally an answer to why I'm dealing with certain health issues and not just the, oh let's put you on this prescription or oh it's, you know, just the products you're using. I always knew my gut, literally, that it wasn't. So now that these results came back, I'm working with Jessica. We have a 20 week protocol built out specifically around these results. We're taking it in three phases. Phase one we're tackling inflammation, phase two we're going to address the H. Pylori, and then phase three we're going to rebuild that beneficial bacteria like we did in phase one. And of course, I'm going to be taking you along and documenting this entire journey. Every supplement, every check-in, the good weeks, the bad ones. Because I know if you've ever felt like your skin issues are this giant mystery with no end, I finally feel like I have an answer and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, you know? Let me know if you've done anything like this and follow along for the journey.
