We started with a root melt and tone to rebalance the canvas, because you can’t correct chaos without resetting the foundation first. Then I dried her completely and went back in with a full highlight, lowlight, and tip out to correct every section individually. This is the part people don’t understand about correction. It isn’t one big process, it’s a hundred small decisions made piece by piece. We finished with a cut and a style and I was obsessed. What made this one so tedious was the tightrope. She had a massive amount of hair, and all of it needed correcting, but the whole thing had to happen without frying hair that had already been through it. That’s the real skill in correction work. Not just getting the color right, but getting there without destroying the hair to do it. This is why a real correction is never a quick fix and never a bargain.
