Spent 36 hours with us in Kennebunkport, Maine for our 3-year anniversary. We stayed at the Captain's Collection, Lark Hotels. It's historic property had so much charm and an insane homemade breakfast every morning. Complimentary bikes, beach chairs and towels. It was close enough to town that we were able to walk everywhere all weekend. Instead of overplanning like I normally do, we just explored and honestly, I think that's the best way to experience Kennebunkport. First stop was Mornings in Paris where I got a mainer coffee with blueberry and maple. If you go, don't miss the hidden seating in the back. We then headed straight to The Clam Shack right when they opened at 11 for their famous lobster roll. I ordered mine with butter and mayo. We then headed to The Knotty Elephant and talked to the owner. The owner of The Knotty Elephant told us his story behind the store and it was incredible. So many local artists and hidden gems. We walked 20 minutes outside of town to the little shopping cottages, specifically for the Fish House. I never buy souvenirs and I left with a hand-painted ceramic plate that I fell in love with. After a quick reset at the hotel, we got ready for dinner at The Lost Fire. Make sure to make a reservation, they were turning people away. The steak chimichurri, fresh bread and Hugo Spritz. The size of my head. Absolutely lived up to the hype. We finished the night with Big Daddy's ice cream before walking around town. More shower, putting on robes, being in bed by 11 PM. Honestly, our ideal night. The next morning, grabbed Dock Square Coffee and got the graham cracker latte, special before breakfast. Back at the hotel, took one last walk along Kennebunk Beach and reluctantly started our 5-hour drive home. One very important stop for the New Jersey legend himself. We will definitely be back.
