Yesterday, after I finished walking my row of dogs, I came across this sweet girl sitting in her kennel. She had the saddest eyes, yet there was something so gentle about her that made me stop. Since I had some extra time, I decided to take her out for a special walk. Most dogs only get 15 to 20 minutes outside each day, but I wanted Nola to have a little longer. I was excited for her. I pictured her running through the yard, exploring every corner, feeling free for a little while. Little did I know that she had other plans. The entire time we were outside, Nola never left my side. She never got up to explore. She never ran across the yard. The moment I sat down, she came over, laid beside me, and stayed there for our entire thirty minutes together. Together, we watched people walk by. We watched other dogs go on their walks. We listened to the birds and watched the trees move in the wind. I gave her a massage and told her over and over what a good girl she is. And somehow, that broke my heart more than anything. I later found out that Nola first arrived at the shelter back in February under the name Astrid. She came in as a stray, stayed for a few weeks, and was eventually adopted. We were all so happy for her. But only a few months later, she is back again. This time, under a different name, but once again as a stray. Nola has been failed twice. She is only four years old, and you can tell that life has not always been kind to her. As the shelter continues to fill up and new animals arrive every day, I worry about dogs like Nola. She is one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet. I believe she is dog friendly because she shows such positive body language around other dogs. More than anything, she just wants to be close to someone. I truly hope that this time, Nola finds the person who will never give up on her. The person who will love her for the rest of her life and make sure she never has to wonder where her family went ever again. Please let’s find Nola the home she deserves. ❤️ • • #dog #rescue #pitbull #Love #sad
