If you're low income, should you go to college? And my answer is the exact same thing that I'll give to anybody who is not low income. And that is, it depends on what your major is. Coming from someone who grew up in a low income household, going to college is 100% worth it if and only if you are going into a major with a high ROI and two, you think you will do well in it. Like Baxum was saying, it depends on what field you go into if college is going to be worth it for you. If you're not someone that likes school, you don't think you're going to do well in the courses, then no, that you probably shouldn't go into debt taking classes that aren't going to help you. But if you are academically gifted, you have a field that you want to go into that is going to end up making you a lot of money, going to college can absolutely change your life. Another thing that will really help you out is applying for scholarships. Scholarships can make a huge difference in affordability of college. I know for myself, my grades, scholarships and extracurriculars allowed me to go to college completely free. So it was a no brainer for me to go to college. Now of course I'm not going to tell you what to do. I don't know your situation. I'm not going to tell you how to live your life. But don't let being low income deter you from going into college. There are still ways for you to succeed.
