One of the biggest differences I've noticed between confident people and people that struggle with confidence is that confident people don't internalize every little thing that happens to them. This is so incredibly true and honestly such a great message for people, especially young people to hear. The quicker you get out of your head and stop internalizing everything that happens to you, the better off you're going to be. You got a bad grade on an exam? Okay, that's fine, that doesn't make you a bad student, that just means you had a bad day. You fumbled over your words in a conversation? That doesn't mean you're stupid, that just means you were maybe having an off day or maybe you just haven't practised public speaking enough. But the thing is, if you internalise those negative attributes about yourself, you're going to end up reinforcing them and making them a reality. The better you can bounce back from those events, the more confident you're going to come across as a person. This is why I always say the key to confidence is not tuning out every negative thing that someone says to you or ignoring all the bad things that are happening in your life, instead it's having such a strong sense of self that those negative things do not internalize with you. If you know who you are and you're able to stand on who you are, you're not going to let external factors define your character. The quicker you stop taking everything so personally, the faster your confidence is going to grow.
