Here are finer new details of the new Samsung Z Fold8 that I noticed during my early hands-on preview. Believe it or not, the best screen to watch full screen videos is actually on the smaller, more compact Fold8 Ultra due to the aspect ratio allowing for content to fill up more of the screen. The Z Fold8 Ultra wins for productivity with a more traditional aspect ratio you'd expect from a bar-style phone, but when open, you can basically run two apps side-by-side right next to each other. And weirdly enough, these different philosophies even extend to the way the hinges on these devices work. The Fold8 feels almost spring-loaded opening into a full screen experience faster while the Ultra's hinge is designed to be used in various viewing angles while partially folded. Now the foldable makes 4.1mm thick the shorter aspect ratio Z Fold8 Ultra is the lightest foldable in the world at just 201 grams. And one huge improvement for the Fold8 line this year is a slight redesign to make the device them open compared to last year's Fold7. They also have an anti-reflective display now that looks great in bright light. Now the cameras on the Ultra are going to be a bit better due to the 200 megapixel main sensor, but both phones have the same Snapdragon processor, fast charging 2.0, and near identical capacities that should perfectly for a full day of use.
