The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro feels like a rare glimpse into an era when tech was truly fun. And after using this for the past week or so, I think this phone might actually be peak. I mean, the design this year alone is truly one of one. Up top you have this new window section that houses the camera systems, a video recording light, and the Glyph interface. But then the rest of the phone is made up of aluminum, which is quite rare in modern day smartphones. I actually like this a lot more than I expected to. In day-to-day use, it feels cool to the touch, and while you miss out on wireless charging with a full metal backplate, that's just one trade-off I'm willing to make for a device that feels this premium. Now, the camera systems in this are fairly decent considering this is priced as a mid-range phone. They're using a Sony sensor in this model that delivers nice results when you have lots of light. But honestly, my favorite thing about this phone is how it encourages you to use the device while it's face down. As someone who can get pretty distracted by my tech, I've loved using the Glyph timer as a way to focus on deep work or be able to see the time and notifications at a quick glance. So, in a crowded market full of super capable smartphones at this price range, this is probably the one with the most personality, and there's really nothing else like it.
