I think everyone is looking at the wrong R.E.M. Beauty highlighter

I think everyone is looking at the wrong R.E.M. Beauty highlighter because I think Ariana Grande has already revealed its replacement. Let me explain. We all know that Ariana loves the Interstellar highlighter in shade Miss Mercury. She said multiple times she wears it all the time. It's one of the most iconic products R.E.M. has ever launched. So why do I think something's going on? Well, I started doing some digging. When Interstellar launched, there were ten shades. Every planet, Mama Earth, the Sun. It was a massive launch. But today, that's not what the lineup looks like anymore. Across R.E.M.'s website, Ulta, TikTok Shop, only a couple of those shades are consistently available currently. Now, that by itself doesn't mean anything because brands do phase out shades all the time and highlighter is not something that you're buying every other month. But then I looked at the formulas, and this is where things get interesting. Interstellar is one of the last R.E.M. Beauty products that still contain talc. And if you've been paying attention to some of the recent powder launches, you'll notice a pattern, right? The satin matte bronzer, the satin matte blush from the Hypernova Hotel collections, talc-free. The new eyeshadow quads, talc-free. So R.E.M. clearly knows how to make beautiful powder formulas without talc. And then we got the Wicked Cherry Blossom palettes. Many people looked at these and thought, 'Mmm, cute collector's item.' But I looked at the ingredient list. The palette contains three different powder formulas: a powder blush, a powder melange, and a powder highlight. Every single one of those formulas, talc-free. And honestly, this highlighter is gorgeous. It's smooth, reflective, and performs beautifully. So here is my theory. I don't think R.E.M. Beauty developed an all-new talc-free powder highlight formula just to use it once in a limited edition product. I think this was just proof of concept. They already have the next generation of highlighter for the brand. So when I look at Interstellar, a product that is one of Ariana's favorites and the last legacy talc formula in the brand, to me, it's a matter of when, not if it gets replaced. So no, I'm not saying this is disappearing tomorrow. I'm saying I think Ariana has already shown us what comes next. And if I'm right, we're not just getting a new highlighter, we're getting a reformulated one.
