Their other posts in the index, biggest breakout first.
I feel like we graduate college and life becomes a lot less fun and exciting, so I thought I would come on here and share some tips and habits that have helped me develop such a genuine lust for life. The first I would say is to stop should-ing yourself to death. This is something that my last therapist actually kind of helped me with, and she helped me see how shoulds control a lot of what we do. We think that we are the type of person that should enjoy this thing or should not partake in this hobby. Should or should not then tends to control us. And so what I did is I practice just freeing myself from the shackles of should, as I always say to my friends, and I instead got better in touch with whatever it is I want. So if I want to watch some of the Barbie movies because I love them and I think they are phenomenal, I'm allowed to do that. If I want to become a content creator because I think talking to the camera is super fun, I should do that. I want to do that. That is how I wanna spend my time. And so there are no shoulds or shouldnt, there's instead just what brings you joy and light. And it's really important that you get really in touch with those things and don't let anyone else convince you otherwise, um, and that you also don't limit what those things could be. I recently started taking an acting class, I taking a psychic and clairvoyance class because I thought that was really fun. Life is this adventure and buffet, then you can mix and match with whatever you want, even if people say that thing might not, you know, work or should not go together. And so that's one of the biggest lessons I've learned. Second is to reframe the goal of life from achieving anything to just having the most human experience possible. And this helped me become a lot more comfortable with things like rejection or failure and seeing them as this kind of like fun checkpoint in my life as opposed to anything negative. I put myself out there in terms of friends, I would tell them when I wanted to hang out or if I wanted to be closer, if I hoped we become best friends. I was very honest with my internal emotional experience, and the same happened, actually, in romantic relationships. Whenever I saw myself interested in a man, instead of waiting for him to make the first move because what, why would I do that, I would share how I felt and say, hey, do you wanna pursue anything further? And if they said no, I'd move on with my life because, great, now I'm not spending time thinking about you or talking to you. Um. And sometimes they said they were really interested and my boyfriend and I have now been together for five years as a result of me making that first move and just wanting life to be as human as possible and being okay with the myriad of things, and not just being okay, actually, loving the myriad of things that make life human. The third thing ties into everything else that I've been talking about, which is just having faith in yourself. I started believing that I could pick myself up from any rejection, any fall, any job issue, anything at all, because I am strong internally, because I love myself, and because I have faith in myself to surmount any obstacle, even if it maybe takes me a really long time to surmount it, I believe that I eventually will. And that belief in myself allows me to move through the world with a feeling of bravery and courage, not because I can stop whatever is happening, but because I know I will be okay at the end of the day no matter what. And then the last thing is just reframing life to be beautiful because of the giving and not the receiving. I think we spend a lot of time thinking about what we're getting in return or how we can get more. But instead I just started volunteering things that I felt like volunteering, like my smile, my laugh, my time, a conversation with a stranger, helping someone out on the street just because. And all of these things made me feel like I was a fairy princess drifting through life, helping out with small tasks when I can and just spreading light and spreading love. Um. And having that direction of light and love has fundamentally changed how I deal with everything. I have such a lust for life, I love life, and this is someone who has been clinically depressed for 12 years also, and still is. Ha ha. Um. But all of these things have just helped me see that life still is beautiful despite all the challenges and all the ugliness.
