I gave him a key... and he used it to steal from me. I gave the barbershop owner a key to my vending machine in case a customer’s item got stuck. That turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes ever. The key was only supposed to be used if somebody paid for an item and it got stuck. I trusted him to open the machine and give the customer what they paid for, and lock it back up. But after a while, the money and inventory stopped adding up. First, I thought maybe I was stocking it wrong. Then I started keeping track of every single item and how much cash should have been inside. That’s when I realized somebody was opening the machine when I wasn’t there. So I confronted the owner and eventually found out he had been using the key to take snacks whenever he wanted. The craziest part was he acted like he wasn’t stealing because the machine was inside his barbershop. I immediately took the key back and changed the lock. Be honest, would you remove the machine completely or give him one chance to pay everything back? Comment what you would have done.
