Is OpenClaw Dead?

What happened to OpenClaw? Just a few months ago, everyone was buying Mac Minis and saying "I need 6 Mac Minis!" to run their whole lives. An OpenClaw employee even made a Reddit post asking, "Is OpenClaw Dead?" There's three big things that are going on. 1. OpenClaw's proactive-ness needs setup That even though it's supposed to be proactive, the proactive stuff isn't actually that useful. It takes a lot of work to get the agent to do stuff without you asking, and without it going off the rails. 2. Other agents are more practical That Claude Code and Codex are just as powerful, if not more, and cheaper. There's also way less setup, can work for the proactive stuff if you want to. 3. Hermes could be next for local AI That Hermes is here and it could be the next for local AI. If you want you can be model agnostic, but does require more setup.
