You can now book the third ranked hotel on the planet using your American Express points, and get insane value doing it. 👀 Amex just added The Leading Hotels of the World as its newest transfer partner. The loyalty program is called Leaders Club. Membership Rewards transfer at 4:1, so every 1,000 Amex points becomes 250 Leaders Club points. Capella Bangkok is a Leading Hotels property. On the Chao Phraya River in Sathorn. No. 3 on The World's 50 Best Hotels 2025, and No. 1 on that same list the year before. Two Michelin Keys. Here's what a night looks like. ✅ Cash rate: from $879.90, taxes and fees included ✅ Award rate: 11,933 Leaders Club points ✅ Amex cost: 47,732 Membership Rewards Under 50,000 Amex points a night. That's 1.84 cents per point, stronger than what Membership Rewards return through Marriott or Hilton. Amex transfers move in 1,000 point increments, so you'll send 48,000 and bank the difference. And this isn't a one hotel story. ✅ The Ritz Paris. Place Vendôme. ✅ Grace Bay Club, Turks and Caicos. ✅ Capella Shanghai, Jian Ye Li. None of these belong to a major hotel chain. Your Amex points reach them anyway. There's a status layer on top of this. The Amex Platinum gives you Leaders Club Sterling status, enrollment required, and the on-property benefits carry over to award stays. Breakfast for two, upgrade priority at arrival, early check-in and late checkout. The confirmed pre-arrival upgrades are the exception and stay cash only. Three things before you transfer. Leading Hotels is an alliance, not a chain. Capella Shanghai is bookable on points. Capella Ubud is not. Same brand, different answer. Always check the specific hotel. Pricing is dynamic, so cash and points both move with your dates. And transfers are final. Points leave Amex and they don't come back. I'm watching for a launch transfer bonus. At 4:1, even a small bump moves this math a lot. Drop any questions in the comments and I'll answer them.
