Most people think being likeable means being agreeable. It does not. It means being present. 1️⃣ Skip the introduction of what you do. Ask them what they are working on right now. People warm up to curiosity faster than credentials. 2️⃣ Let the silence sit for two seconds after they finish talking. It signals confidence and makes them feel like what they said actually landed. 3️⃣ Forget trying to be funny. Be specific instead. A specific observation about something they said is more memorable than any joke. 4️⃣ Skip the appearance compliment. Compliment a decision they made or something they built. That kind of recognition stays with people. 5️⃣ Agree where you genuinely agree, but when you disagree do it with curiosity not correction. Ask how did you land on that instead of I actually think. 6️⃣ Put your phone away for the entire conversation. Not even to show them something. Full attention is so rare it becomes the thing they remember about you. 7️⃣ Talk about yourself only when they ask. Most people are waiting to be asked about themselves so they never actually ask about you. Be the exception. 8️⃣ Remember one small detail from the last conversation and bring it up next time. It takes ten seconds and people never forget it. 9️⃣ Use their name once in the conversation, not more. Overusing it feels rehearsed, so save it for the moment it counts. 🔟 Be the same in every room. People do not trust chameleons. Consistency is what makes someone feel safe around you and safe people are always the most liked.
