Most people think being likeable means being easy to be around. It does not. It means being hard to forget. 1️⃣ Let them finish their own sentence, even when you know where it's going. 2️⃣ Admit when you don't know something. People trust that more than a bluff. 3️⃣ Ask "what's been on your mind" instead of "how are you." One gets a real answer. 4️⃣ Give credit in front of other people, not just in private. Public credit lands harder. 5️⃣ Don't rescue the awkward pause. What people say after it is usually the real thing. 6️⃣ Say thank you for the specific thing, not the general thing. "Thanks for explaining that so clearly" beats "thanks." 7️⃣ Add to what they said with "and," not "but." It builds on their idea instead of correcting it. 8️⃣ Ask them to explain something you could easily look up yourself. Being the expert for two minutes is a good feeling, and you just gave it to them for free. 9️⃣ Point your whole body toward them, not just your face. People feel it before they can explain why. 🔟 Ask "do you want advice or do you just want to vent" before jumping in with a fix.
