A lot of people think you can't retire a millionaire on a teacher salary. But I'm here to tell you on a teacher salary of £36,000 and I'm on track to retire a millionaire at the age of 53. Or without saving a single penny or earning any extra. Before I tell you how I need you to understand that I'm not special, I'm not smart, I'm no different from you. I simply just chose to educate myself on something that we should all be learning in school. I invest a small amount of money each month into the stocks and shares market. Don't track anything. Super quick and easy. I promise you, you can do this. Investing in the stock market essentially means you are buying tiny pieces of a company. This means that you own a tiny part of that company. And if that company grows and makes more money, that will mean the value of the tiny part of the company you own is worth more. Now, I know what you're thinking, that's too risky. How do I know which company to pick and what if the company shrinks and I lose money? Which are valid points. But the way I do it, I completely avoid that. Even what company I invest in. I invest in something called an ETF, which stands for exchange traded fund. What does that mean? An ETF is basically a basket of lots of different companies bundled together. So if you buy a tiny ETF, that tiny piece contains even tinier pieces of lots of different companies. The one that I invest in, and you might have heard of it, is the S&P 500. Which is a basket of the biggest 500 companies in the US. So think your Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, your Google. This is safer because it's the top companies historically. The S&P 500 has averaged about a 10% return a year. Meaning if 67 years ago I started investing £100 a month, I would now have £1.27 million. Personally, I invest £196 pounds a month. And this will leave me to retire a millionaire at 53. Absolutely no reason why you can't do that. If you want me to show you how to actually get started, let me know.
