Most people don't know this, but if you are keeping your money in a bank account, you are guaranteed to become poorer every single day. I'm a teacher on a salary of 36,000 pounds and I'm on track to become a millionaire by 53 without saving a single penny. Let me explain. Growing up, most of us are taught to save our money, but what we're not taught is that if you save, there's always something working against your money. Let's say you save 200 pounds a month from your salary. You end the year with 2,400 pounds in your bank. Great, right? But what they don't want you to know is that by the end of the year, you will have lost 82 pounds in purchasing power on that money. And you're probably thinking, what about? But just hear me out. This is due to inflation. Inflation means that the cost of things rises over time, meaning your money can buy less. Last year, inflation rose by 3.5%, meaning that same 2,400 pounds can buy 3.5% less stuff as it could last year. As the years go on, you can imagine how much that adds up. You don't feel like you've lost money because that 2,400 pounds is still there. However, you can now buy way less with it. And that's why saving is something that I will never do long-term. It's a bad option because the purchasing power of money is quietly reducing. There are a few situations where traditional saving is essential, especially for safety. We'll talk about that in another video. Investing is one of the ways that I am beating inflation and putting money back in my pocket each year. I think we should learn this in school. If you found this useful, follow along this series because I'm trying to explain everything that your teacher didn't.
