⬇️ READ THEIR STORIES ⬇️ The other day, I was about to leave the shelter when I came across these two seniors curled up together in their bed… 💔 One of them was sleeping peacefully, while the other was just looking at me with the saddest eyes. I opened the kennel door, but neither one moved. They just stayed there, curled up together. I checked their kennel cards, and that’s when my heart sank.😭 They had only been surrendered a couple of days earlier. Shadow is 9 and Brolly is 10, and they are both heartworm positive… 😞 If you don’t know, being heartworm positive in an overcrowded shelter can put a dog at an even higher risk of never making it out. And being a senior makes that even harder. I learned that their owners got divorced and decided to surrender them to the shelter… They did nothing wrong, and yet they are the ones paying the price. They lost their home, their family, and everything they had known for so many years. And now, after losing everything, all they have is each other. They don’t have to be adopted together, but I am desperately hoping that this time, we can find someone willing to save them both. They absolutely adore and find content in each other in this time of stress and sadness… If you live in Georgia, you may be eligible to foster to adopt through the shelter. Their heartworm treatment will be covered at no cost, and once treatment is completed, you can adopt them. 🥹 I know finding a home for two senior dogs is a huge ask… But I refuse to accept that their story will end here… I promised them I would try!!
