Here is my current net worth as a high earning 37 year old who prioritizes saving and investing living in Houston, Texas. You calculate your net worth by adding up your assets, your cash, investments, real estate, and subtracting all of your liabilities, any loans, home loans, car loans, student loans, and credit card debt. Always starting with the cash accounts. I currently have $62,321 in cash. If you're going to come here and tell me I have too much cash, it is all relative. I own two properties and last year I spent over $100,000 maintaining them. Everyone's needs are going to be different. Now let's move to the investment accounts. While I have always been contributing to a 401k, I only started investing with intention in the last seven years. Starting with the 401k, the balance right now is at $579,897. My Roth, I am working on building this up because honestly, I didn't realize the importance of this account until I was much older. Right now the balance is at $31,322. For my taxable brokerages, I have $135,704. Also, my employer offers a defined contribution plan which I can see the cash balance. It's a kind of pension. The balance right now is sitting at $102,208. And to round out, my HSA has around $19,000. I do own some cryptocurrency and I am investing more this year into Bitcoin, but right now I have just under $16,000 split between Ethereum and Bitcoin. Like I said, I own two properties. I am selling my primary home and moving back into my rental this year. It just went under contract for $515,000 and my rental is valued at $407,000. My car is estimated at $21,000. Now let's move to the liabilities. I do have mortgages. My primary balance is just under $360,000 and my investment property is at $284,000. And this is my current credit card balance. I pay this off twice a month on payday. This comes out to a total net worth of $1.239 million. I am sharing this to show you that a lot can change in a short period of time. My first salary was $40,000 in 2011 and I have been tracking saving and investing with intention for the last seven years.
