Net worth breakdown. 37 + high earner + no kids. I am a high earning 37-year-old living in Houston, Texas. Multiple people asked me to do this and I believe in money transparency, so let's get into it. Your net worth is calculated by adding up the value of all of your assets, cash, investments, the value of your car, your house, and subtracting all of your liabilities, mortgages, student loans, credit card debt. Let's start with the cash accounts. I currently have $85,496 in cash. Almost all of this is in high-yield savings accounts. I only keep about one month of expenses in my checking. Now, let's move to the investment accounts. I have been working for 15 years and I have always contributed to my 401k. I have maxed it out since I was 30 years old. The total balance in my 401k is $527,415, all invested at Fidelity in a target date 2055 fund. My Roth IRA, I am absolutely kicking myself because I didn't really know what a Roth IRA was until I was much older and I haven't contributed to it very much. The balance of my Roth IRA is $28,015. Now for my brokerage accounts. I have some RSUs sitting in a brokerage at Fidelity valued at $24,227. My second post-tax brokerage is at Vanguard and has a balance of $93,127. I have a cash balance defined contribution account that is a sort of pension plan through my employer and the balance of that account is currently $99,252. I do own some cryptocurrency. I have about $8,300 in Ethereum and about $4,800 in Bitcoin. I own two properties. The value of my primary home from Zillow is $457,900 and the value of my investment property is currently at $407,000. I do own a car and the value of that car is estimated to be about $21,000. I don't have a car loan, so the only debt I have are my mortgages. The balance of my mortgage at my primary residence is $367,153. Investment property is at $285,138. This comes out to a total net worth of $1,104,257. I know that this is not the norm for most people and I am sharing not to brag, but to show you what is possible with increasing your income and adopting healthy money habits.
