You are the last name that comes up when promotions are discussed. 4️⃣ They handed you a project that is a full job on its own. Nothing in your contract was renegotiated. No conversation was had. 5️⃣ You trained the person sitting next to you. They moved up six months later. You are still in the same role. 6️⃣ You lead the team in everything but name. No manager title. No manager pay. No additional support. 7️⃣ Every time you raised the promotion conversation, something shifted. One more quarter. One more project. One more reason to wait. 8️⃣ You have been there long enough to know how everything runs. They know it too. That is exactly why leaving feels complicated. And why they are counting on it. 9️⃣ They call you invaluable in every meeting. The budget stays flat every review cycle. People show you your worth in numbers, not words. 🔟 Every development opportunity they offer makes you better at the role you are already in. Not one of them moves you closer to the next level.
