Taxpayers have been left with a whopping £6 million bill to clean up one of England’s biggest illegal dumps. Around 22,000 tonnes of household and commercial waste was dumped at the Kidlington site in Oxfordshire in 2025. The government says it intends to make the criminals responsible pay, with plans to seize money and assets from waste offenders to recover the cost of clean-ups. But reportedly, the Environment Agency has recovered just £7.3 million from waste criminals over the past five years, while waste crime is estimated to cost the UK economy £1 billion a year. £6m to clean it up. £1bn a year in damage. Who should be footing the bill? 👀 #UKNews #WasteCrime #FlyTipping #Taxpayers #Oxford
