Save this to find your deep core ✨ I’ve been teaching Pilates for over 20 years, and this is still one of the biggest missing pieces I see when it comes to properly connecting to the deep core. 🤍 If you feel like you can’t “find” your lower abs no matter how much core work you do, your stomach seems to dome during exercises, or you struggle with rib flare, overactive hip flexors or discomfort through the lower back, this could be the piece you’re missing. 🤍 Constantly pressing your lower back flat into the mat can make it harder to maintain your natural spinal position and may cause you to compensate through the hip flexors and more superficial abdominal muscles rather than using the deeper stabilising system. Instead, think about finding a neutral pelvis ✨ This means: 🤎 Hip bones and pubic bone stay level with one another 🤎 Ribs stay soft and gently connected 🤎 The natural curves of the spine are maintained This position gives your deep core a strong foundation to work from. It’s also where the transverse abdominis (TA), your deep corset-like abdominal muscle, can contribute effectively to supporting the trunk, stabilising the spine and creating that feeling of drawing the lower stomach gently inward. ✨ If you feel like you “can’t find your lower abs” or your stomach tends to dome during ab work, your pelvic position may be one of the first things to check. Try this in your next mat class and notice how much more connected and controlled your core work feels. 🤍 Save this for your next workout and follow for Pilates that actually works. ✨ #Pilates #MatPilates #DeepCore #CoreStrength #PilatesInstructor
