The “Gulf of America” walked so “Lake America” could run. 😂 This Costco story might be the most accidentally perfect explanation of the current political moment: “I don’t like what you call it, so I’m just going to give it a different name.” And when somebody points out that you don’t actually get to unilaterally rename something for everyone else? Well… exactly. 😏 President Trump has now ordered the U.S. federal government to call Lake Ontario “Lake America,” following the earlier Gulf of Mexico/Gulf of America name change. But changing what the federal government calls a geographic feature doesn’t magically change what Canada—or the rest of the world—calls it.
