Shock and deep sorrow have once again gripped KwaThema after two bodies were discovered inside a house on Mokgitli Street in Ekurhuleni. This latest tragedy adds to the growing wave of fear sweeping through communities already reeling from the discovery of nine women’s bodies across the East Rand in recent months. From Kempton Park and Rhodesfield to Olifantsfontein, Clayville, KwaThema itself, and most recently Dawn Park, the pattern of violence has left families shattered and residents living in constant dread. Women have been found partially clothed, dumped by roadsides or in open areas, with many showing signs of assault. One victim, Dineo Evelyn Motapane, was identified after her body was found on a KwaThema roadside only days ago. These ongoing horrors demand urgent answers. How many more lives must be lost before communities feel safe? We stand with the grieving families and call for thorough, transparent investigations, greater police visibility, and real accountability. No woman should live in fear of becoming the next victim.
