The question still hangs heavy over every parent who trusts a school with their child: How does a four-year-old disappear from creche and no one notices until her father arrives to collect her? According to the family of little Malethole Thabane, that is exactly what happened on 30 October 2026 at Sky is the Limit Pre-school in Ha Leqele, Lesotho. Her father arrived as usual for the afternoon pickup. The school could not produce the child. Only when he asked for her did staff begin searching. By then she was already gone. She was last seen wearing purple pants and a top with a black unicorn design. She is only four years old and not yet speaking clearly. This is not a case of a child wandering off unnoticed in a busy public space. This is a place where parents pay for care, supervision and safety. Staff are supposed to know every child and every authorised adult. A proper dispatch system should exist so that no child is handed over without confirmation. Yet here we are, days later, with a family in pieces and a community asking the same painful questions: Did anyone see anything? Was there a record of who was on the premises? Why was her absence not flagged earlier? We are not accusing anyone. We are demanding basic accountability. Schools and creches must be able to explain, step by step, how a toddler can leave their care without a single adult raising the alarm until a parent is standing at the gate. Parents across Lesotho and South Africa need to know that the systems meant to protect our children actually work. Right now those systems failed Malethole and her family. As of early November 2026 she remains missing. The family and community continue searching. A reward of M20,000 has been offered for information that leads to her safe return. Anyone with even the smallest detail is urged to contact +266 62863051 or +266 6315 1998, the nearest police station, or dial 112. Every hour that passes without answers is another hour a four-year-old is out of reach of the people who love her. Share this widely. Ask the questions that need asking. Pressure the school and the authorities for transparency. Help us bring Malethole Thabane home. #JustAdvocacy #MissingChild #MaletholeThabane #BringHerHome #ChildSafety
