Here's how my stress turned into stage 4 burnout
& put me in hospital
It started with constant fatigue
But stopping felt impossible. I was always checking my laptop, answering messages, scrolling my phone. Everything felt urgent
Then, rest stopped feeling restorative
I could spend hours in bed and still feel wired, going over old conversations, awkward moments and work problems again and again
Then came the migraines
There were days when my head hurt constantly. But slowing down made me feel like I was failing, so I just kept going
Then, my gut started struggling too
Nausea, indigestion and stomach pain became so common that I almost stopped questioning them
Then the rest of my body joined in
Tense muscles. Back pain. Racing heart. Pulsing in my ears. Dizziness...
But instead of stopping, I compared myself to other people, worked more and kept agreeing to things I didn't have capacity for
Until eventually, I crashed
It took me months to realise how addicted I'd become to pushing through. 🤯 I ended up in burnout, and it took me 3 years to recover.
After that, I wanted to help other people notice the cycle before their body reaches breaking point
So I partnered with a psychiatrist to build Anticipate
Give yourself a little grace
It connects your symptoms, sleep, activity and calendar to show what keeps draining you — and where you need more recovery
If you recognise yourself here, find Anticipate on the App Store 🤍
