I've dropped 45lbs since the beginning of the year and I get asked quite often what did I start doing to lose the weight. And to be honest, I think a lot of the results have come from things that I've stopped doing. So I want to walk you through three habits that I stopped doing that helped me lose the 45 pounds. Number one is treating every meal like it has to be an experience. I keep my meals very simple and repeatable. To be honest, I probably rotate through the same 10 ingredients for all of my meals. I eat a lot of rice, chicken, beef, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, eggs, Greek yogurt. Very basic, whole, natural foods, minimal ingredients, these foods are filling, they are fueling, they are supporting my fitness goals. And like I said, they are repeatable, which helps me stay consistent. The second habit is working out for the calorie burn. Three years ago, if I would have done one of my current 30 minute strength training sessions and saw that I only burned 200 calories by the end of it, in my head I would have told myself that I need to go do an extra cardio session that afternoon. I have now realized that a lot of the benefits of strength training comes after the session. The amount of calories you burn really is just a metric. And so I no longer worry and rarely pay attention to how many calories I burn during my workouts. My last one is treating every weekend like a free for all. Yes, I do allow myself some balance and some flexibility on the weekends. But I control what I can control so that I can flex a little bit on the weekends. But I still stay mindful about what and how much I'm consuming. So that allows some room that Saturday evening or afternoon, or for whatever we have going on, to add in a little bit more balance and flexibility. And along with that, I'm also more mindful about portion sizes and just how much I'm consuming. So yes, I allow myself to have little treats and foods that I don't typically eat, but I'm very mindful about how much of it I'm consuming and not just going overboard. I challenge you to take inventory of certain habits and rather than asking yourself what can you start doing, what can you stop doing that might help you see results. I'm still getting in my high protein breakfast, I'm still getting in a high quality lunch. So I'm controlling the things that can be controlled so that I can flex a little bit on the weekends. And I'm still getting in my morning workout, I'm still getting in my high protein breakfast, I'm still getting in a high quality lunch. So I'm controlling the things that can be controlled so that I can flex a little bit on the weekends.
