If I have a problem with an employee, there's only one person to blame, and that's me. What are the mistakes that you made in choosing employees? I think it's how I was leading that I've been learning more about. Where I used to lead from top to bottom, I now am learning how to lead bottom to up. What's the difference? Top to bottom means you think because someone reports into you, they have to do what you say. But it's not true. This is not a dictatorship. They have free will. They can go work. If you hire someone that's really talented, they'll go work elsewhere, especially great leaders. The more talented they are, the more the top to bottom does not work. They won't be willing to do it. They shouldn't. Great talent is not willing to be managed like this. Great talent wants to be inspired, wants me to see the full version of themselves even more than they see it and they want the room to make mistakes but also to grow, but they also need feedback. If you have someone amazing and they're fucking up, Sorry, they're missed. My kids are going to listen. It's all good. They're fucking up. Are you going to tell them or because you're not comfortable with conflict, you're going to wait for 90 days and every time they're going to make that mistake, you're going to get so upset that by the time you communicate to them, it's too late. The moment they made a mistake, if you respect them, give them the feedback because that's the best thing for them. By the way, when you give them the feedback, give them room to give you feedback. If you're going to manage these employees and you want to attract the best talent in the world, Remember that power comes from influence, not control. If you think they need to do what you said because you're their boss, you've already lost and it's a matter of time until it doesn't work out. If they're okay with it, just because you're the boss, you have to tell them what they do and they accept that power. They're not the right employee for you and you're not the right boss for them. There's no chance you're getting the best out of them.
