A South African public figure is currently trending after posting a series of urgent warnings about his personal safety. Mpho Dagada, entrepreneur, author, and former presidential candidate for Arise South Africa, has claimed that he is being followed and targeted after allegedly uncovering a large-scale money-laundering network. In recent posts, Dagada stated that a man followed him to OR Tambo International Airport and that he fears for his life. He links the alleged threat to his claims of exposing a group involved in laundering proceeds from the recent Bitget exchange hack, reported at approximately $378–387.5 million. According to his account, South Africans were used in the laundering process and the individuals involved are working with corrupt elements within the police. Dagada has further alleged that tens of billions of dollars moved through bank accounts connected to his political party and related entities. He has named major banks, referenced court subpoenas blocking access to account details, and claimed his devices have been compromised and surveillance equipment found at his residence. He has publicly named individuals, requested CCTV footage from locations including Sandton City and the airport, and warned that if anything happens to him, those he has identified should be held responsible. These claims remain unverified by independent authorities, police statements, or major investigative reporting at the time of writing. The Bitget incident itself is confirmed: attackers compromised backend systems and drained hundreds of millions in crypto assets, with subsequent laundering activity tracked by blockchain analysts. No official linkage has yet been established between that hack and the specific South African networks or individuals Dagada has named. Regardless of the ultimate verification of every detail, the situation raises serious concerns. Whistleblowers who allege financial crime and institutional capture frequently face intimidation. When someone publicly states that they are being followed, that their home has been compromised, and that they fear assassination, the response should not be silence or dismissal. Public pressure for a transparent, independent investigation is essential. Police must take any credible threat seriously, banks must clarify their position on the alleged account activity, and the broader public should demand accountability rather than allow these claims to disappear into the noise of social media. Protecting those who speak out against alleged corruption and money laundering is not optional in a functioning democracy. Whether Dagada’s full narrative is ultimately substantiated or not, the principle remains: no one should fear for their life simply for raising red flags about illicit financial flows. We call for immediate attention to his safety and a thorough, public examination of the allegations he has placed on record. #JustAdvocacy #WhistleblowerProtection #MoneyLaundering #BitgetHack #SouthAfrica
