A Johannesburg family is in deep mourning and urgently seeking justice after their 3-year-old daughter died following a fall from the fourth floor of a flat on Thursday, 8 October 2026. What the family describes as a routine day turned into a tragedy that has left them demanding answers and alleging that foul play may have been involved. According to family accounts, the child’s mother had been sent to the shops, leaving the little girl in the care of her grandmother. The grandmother reportedly stepped outside to smoke. It was during this absence that the child fell from the window. The grandmother only learned of the incident when people on the ground called her to come and see whether the child lying on the floor was her granddaughter. The grandmother’s boyfriend was also present in the flat at the time. He claimed he had been in the shower. The family, however, does not believe his account and suspects foul play. They state that the child’s body was found lying far from the window, not directly beneath it as would be expected in an accidental fall. This detail has led them to believe the child may have been thrown. The family further explains that the child was small and that the sofa was positioned far from the window, making it impossible for the 3-year-old to have climbed out on her own. Both the grandmother and the child’s mother have said the child was sleeping on the sofa and could not have woken up, climbed onto the window, and fallen. The family is devastated that the boyfriend, who was in the flat, is refusing to speak about what happened and is not cooperating with their questions. They say the person suspected in the child’s death remains free and shows no remorse, and that no one has yet stood up for the little girl. Police have not confirmed whether a case has been opened or whether anyone has been taken in for questioning. The grieving family is appealing to the public and the police to intervene urgently so that this child can receive justice.
