Amazon just pulled a GENIUS business move by releasing the Amazon Basics Golf Ball

Amazon just pulled the most genius business move of all time. With an absolutely god awful product. And that's because Amazon just released these. These Amazon Basics golf balls. They are by far the cheapest golf balls on the entire market. 24 of them is $24. And traditionally the cheapest golf ball in golf was the Kirkland brand, where 24 of those would run you about $50. Now for a context of how expensive golf balls are, the Pro V1, which is arguably the best ball in golf, is $54.99 for 12 of them, over double the price of the new Amazon balls. But to understand why this is such a genius business move, you have to understand what happened to golf in the past five years. It has been completely taken over by social media. Guys like Bryson, Riggs, Barstool, Good Good, Grant Horvat, Bob Does Sports, and a ton of other people. And these creators are bringing a massive new wave of terrible golfers to the golf course. Common traits of young golfers who are bad at golf: One, they don't have a ton of money. Two, they lose a shit ton of golf balls. And Amazon already knew that the market for shitty golf balls was huge, as Kirkland's been doing it for years. And they also didn't waste any money on research and development because these golf balls are made in the same factory as the Kirkland brand. The biggest difference between these balls is that Kirkland has a urethane cover, which helps the ball spin a little more. Whereas Amazon has a harder lonomer cover that doesn't help the ball spin as much. But guess what? These new generation good good golfers don't give a shit about spin. But they do give a shit when they lose a five dollar Titleist in the creek. So while the product itself may be terrible, this is huge for the new wave of golfers. And honestly, just genius on Amazon's part.
