Wanting to be an influencer isn't the goal. This is why when people come to me and they tell me their problem and they say, 'Brie, I want to be an influencer,' that's not going to work with me. You don't need to come to me if your goal is to be an influencer because an influencer is not going to sustain anything for you. An influencer by definition is a professional content creator who leverages a dedicated social media following to shape the opinions, behaviors, and purchasing decisions of their audience. While often confused with general content creators, the distinction lies in their influencer's ability to use authority expertise to drive specific actions, such as buying a product or adapting a lifestyle. Now, the problem with this is you are a glorified sales specialist when you are an influencer, which means you are selling on behalf of other people. So if the market for other people no longer exists, you don't have a job, which is why the goal should never to be this. So when you guys find me, I need you to stop telling me that this is the goal. This is not the goal, right? When you have a personal brand, what the personal brand allows you to do is to create your own revenue, create your own business, your own products, get yourself on your own podcast, and all of these different outlets, which is why if you go into content creation with this mindset, this is this is what's going to get you no money. If you put all of your eggs in the basket of getting brand deals, this is going to be the quickest money that you will see, but also the quickest money that you will lose. Now, let me tell you what this will do. This is what caused me to be able to be offline for six months, because what I built was a personal brand and not just power and influence. So the next time you consider what are you creating content for, what do you want influence for, it should be for this.
