so i started investing in 18 and this created a big portion of my wealth today. but if i restart tomorrow with zero dollars, here's exactly how i would start over my finances. step number one, before i start investing at all, i want to create an emergency fund. three to six months of living expenses in a high yield saving account that's gonna get about 3 to 4% of interest for myself. i spend about 2,000 dollars every single month. so i wanna make a high yield savings account, put around 6,000 to 12,000 dollars into the high yield savings. once you created your emergency fund, your investing strategy, i keep it very simple and very safe. i invest into something that tracks the S&P 500, essentially the top 500 companies, the really good market return. and there's so many ways to do this. the most popular one is to invest into VOO. this is an ETF that tracks the top 500 companies and a big stocks. and once you get your reps in and you learn more about investing, you can start investing into individual stocks. these companies. if they do good, you can make some money. but if they do bad, you could lose some money. so there is more risk. emergency your normal brokerage account. now i would start thinking about retirement. if you are employed, check with your employer if you have a 401k. if you're unemployed, look into a Roth IRA. you can contribute up to seventy five hundred dollars for most of the people watching this, this looks like $625 every single month. and that's maxing out your Roth IRA. and if you like personal finance content like this, make sure to follow for more videos just like this.
