I own a 5 million dollar HVAC company and here's 14 things that I have told me before I started my business. One, answer every call. Answer every call. A missed call is a missed job. Two, charge by the job, not the hour. Charge for your expertise, not your time. Three, sell the maintenance plan on every visit. Sell the maintenance plan on every single visit. That creates recurring revenue. And if you sell your company, bringing it to private equity, that's one of the pillars that they wanna see. Four, follow up within 24 hours. Always try to. Five, ask for the review on the job site. Ask for the review before you leave the driveway, whether it's the tech, the installer, or the salesman. Try to ask for a review. That will build credibility. Six, check KPIs weekly. Try to check your KPIs weekly, not yearly. Sit down with a good accountant, your CFO, and all your numbers are on track to hit your goals that you are in place for the year. Seven, hire slow, but fire fast. Some of the most expensive employees on your team might be your biggest problem. And you're not gonna find out until you get rid of that problem. Eight, train techs to sell, not just to fix. Nine, keep your trucks clean. Your trucks are billboards. Keep them clean. Ten, text your customers. Please text your customers. Nobody answers the phone anymore. Eleven, build relationships with plumbers, electricians, property management groups. Those all turn into leads. Twelve, stick by your quote. When you send out a quote, stick to your original price. Leave no room for negotiation. If you want to book a call, go to the link in my Instagram bio.
