You need to give a sh*t about your LinkedIn. I want to bring to my attention that some of you guys on TikTok don't know why I'm so obsessed with LinkedIn and why I post these LinkedIn profile roasts. So let me reintroduce myself. My name is Megan. I have posted on LinkedIn almost every day for the past five years. I have over 220,000 followers on there. I am a LinkedIn Top Voice, a two-time LinkedIn Learning instructor, and I have also partnered with LinkedIn as a content creator for them several times now. I started posting on LinkedIn back when I was trying to break into tech as a data analyst and then I landed all three of my tech roles after that and then built my own business as a full-time content creator because of LinkedIn. Because I was consistent on there, showed up and posted every day, and for each job offer, brand deal, speaking gig, each opportunity that I have ever had leading to the career that I have today has come to me first because the right person happened to stumble across a single post of mine and reached out to me for each one of them. I did that well before I had thousands of followers. I then taught hundreds of students how to do the same thing with their own LinkedIns, both to land jobs and also to create content on there. Now why I think everyone else should care as much as I do about LinkedIn isn't just because I have personally been successful on there, it is because most people still think of LinkedIn as this off-limits, stuffy, overly professional corporate platform when in reality, if you know how to use that platform right, it is a place where I think anyone can be successful and attract dream opportunities too. By opportunities, I don't just mean job opportunities, I mean brand deals, speaking engagements, press, the ability to launch your own business and attract customers and partners for it. The reason those opportunities exist on LinkedIn is because it is a place where people with money, decision-making power and influence go to invest in themselves and in their businesses. And through that process, they are also willing to pay the people who not only offer what they need, but also care about the same things that they care about. But those opportunities only exist for the people who don't just write LinkedIn off as like cringe and gatekeep themselves from everything it has to offer. And so I have made it my mission to debunk the myth that LinkedIn is this out of reach place because it isn't, and to show you actually like how to build the career of your dreams on there. And usually that starts with a good LinkedIn profile. That is why I post these LinkedIn roasts. Not because I actually care about what these reality TV stars' LinkedIns look like. Okay so let's say you believe me that LinkedIn is actually a place that can completely change your career, but you don't know where to start because nobody's ever taught you. In the next video, I'm giving you my top three tips to get started, even if you don't have years of experience or thousands of followers. So I'll see you there.
