In my special, I talk about how there's two types of white dads. You either have a white dad who cares how you load the dishwasher, or you have a white dad that cheats on your mom. I grew up with a dishwasher dad. I'm very privileged. If you're dating someone and you want to look out for some indications that they might one day grow into a dishwasher dad, I would honestly say if they collect things — to a reasonable extent, maybe not like leaning into the hoarding. Or honestly, if they like build stuff with Legos. Also reasonable. It shouldn't take up, like, half of the living room. But if they have, like, little things that they care about and they take good care of, it means that they understand that certain things are delicate. They need to be cared for. They need to be dusted. That person I could see — there's like a linear path to dishwasher dad.
