Well, I hate to ruin a good ghost story, but that is 100% a myth. There is no church spire under there. What people are actually seeing when the water drops are the reservoir's original 1920s valve towers and intake structures. While an entire valley was flooded back in 1913 to lead water to the local ironworks, and the historic Capel y Taf Fechan was lost, the original chapel was completely demolished and the graveyard. That doesn't mean nothing was lost. To build this huge reservoir back in 1913, to lead water to the ironworks, an entire valley was flooded. Along with the chapel, historic farmsteads and homes were submerged forever beneath 3 billion gallons of water. Did you grow up believing the church spire story?
