Today I went to meet a dog who hasn't been eating...💔

⬇️ READ HIS STORY ⬇️ Rocky is only 4 years old, and he arrived at the shelter just two weeks ago, on August 12th. He was found as a stray with an ID, so the shelter reached out to his family. Sadly, they decided not to come for him… 🥺💔 Ever since Rocky arrived, he has been struggling here. He spends his days curled up in his bed, and recently, he stopped eating. The shelter has been trying to get him to eat by adding wet food to his dry food, but he still wasn’t eating. In just two weeks at the shelter, Rocky has lost 7 pounds. Today, I was asked to go visit Rocky because he really needed help and visibility. I decided I was also going to try to feed him. I thought maybe if I hand-fed him, he would be willing to eat. Maybe he just needed to feel loved. Maybe he needed someone to sit with him and remind him that he wasn’t alone. So I got a can of wet food and took Rocky into the bonding room. And he ate. ❤️😭🙏🏻 He ate half of the can, and that absolutely made my entire day. Rocky is such a sweet boy, but he is also incredibly sad. You can see how much this environment is affecting him. I took him outside, took him for a walk, spent some time with him, and told him that he was loved. Before I left, I put him back in his kennel, and he went straight back to his bed. I promised him that together, we would find him a family. Please, please help me keep my promise. 💔 The longer Rocky stays in this overcrowded shelter, the harder it is becoming for him... He desperately needs someone to come save his life. Please don’t let Rocky become another dog who loses hope inside a shelter kennel.
