You know what’s so important? YOUR METABOLISM! One of the biggest mistakes I see in fitness is thinking that if progress slows down, the answer is automatically to cut calories again! But your metabolism isn’t something you want to constantly fight against. Your body needs enough energy to support your workouts, build and maintain muscle, recover, regulate hormones, digest food, and simply function well!! Your gut and your brain are so connected so when your body isn’t getting enough energy or nutrients, it can affect much more than just your physical performance!! It can impact digestion, mood, energy, hunger and fullness signals, and overall wellbeing. When you spend long periods eating too little while training hard, your body will start adapting to the low energy availability, which can make recovery harder and make it wayyyy more difficult to maintain muscle. That doesn’t mean your metabolism is “broken” but it means your body is incredibly good at adapting to what you consistently give it!! And this is why more restriction isn’t always the answer… If your goal is to get leaner, the goal should be to create a manageable calorie deficit while still giving your body enough protein, carbohydrates, fats, and overall energy to perform and recover! Then after at MOST 12 weeks, bring your calories back up to maintenance to reactivate your metabolism, keep maintaining/building muscle, and give your body more fuel/a rest from lower calories. You don’t need to eat less and less. If you want to be lean, build/maintain muscle, you need to FUEL your body!! The goal is to create a body that is strong, fueled, and metabolically healthy!! It’s so important for ALL aspects of our lives. Mental health, physical health, fertility, and so much more. #fitness #healthcoach #fitnesscoach #fyp #metabolism
