If you roll over in your sleep you’ll wake up in a new country 🇫🇷🇨🇭 The hotel that sits on the France Switzerland border, and one of the strangest rooms you can book in Europe. 📍 Hôtel Arbez Franco-Suisse, La Cure, Jura, France and Switzerland When France and Switzerland redrew this border in 1862, the treaty let any building already standing on the new line stay where it was. A local trader called Ponthus built a three storey house across the line before the treaty took effect, put a grocery shop on the Swiss side and a bar on the French side, and the Arbez family turned it into a hotel in 1921. How to do it: 1. There are only 10 rooms, so ask for a border room when you book. Room 12 has the bathroom in France and the bed in Switzerland. The honeymoon suite has the border running down the middle of the bed. 2. Doubles start around €99, half board around €124 a person. Open all year. 3. It is about 45 minutes by car from Geneva airport, or take the mountain train from Nyon to La Cure, just over an hour. Les Rousses is minutes away for skiing in winter and hiking in summer, so it works as a base and not just a novelty night. Send this video to the Mio app and it'll save La Cure straight onto your travel map. #HotelArbez #FranceSwitzerland #JuraMountains #BorderTowns #weirdhotels
