My clients go both ways depending on which feels best to them and this is why👇🏼 SCOOP METHOD✅ - Purpose: Maximize the glute squeeze/shortened position at the top. Uses more posterior pelvic tilt — think tucking your tailbone under as you lock out. - Great for people who struggle to feel their glutes and tend to compensate with their lower back. - Encourages a very deliberate hard contraction at lockout rather than simply moving the weight. - Often works well for your glute-focused, higher-rep training, where contraction and control are the priority. HINGE METHOD✅ - Purpose: Create a strong, repeatable hip-extension movement that can generally handle more loading. - The torso moves more like a hinge around the bench, with less intentional “scooping” of the pelvis. - Gives you a larger hip-extension movement through the rep rather than emphasizing the tuck at the very top. - Can be better suited to people focused on progressive overload/strength and efficiently moving heavier loads. - Still heavily trains the glute max—you do not have to scoop for a hip thrust to be a legitimate glute exercise. Simple takeaway for the video: Scoop = emphasize contraction/control. Hinge = emphasize hip extension/loading. Neither is “wrong”—they’re different ways to perform the same glute-dominant movement. #glutes #form #fyp #peachgainz
