First things first. We must make it clear that spices are not the same thing as seasonings. Please unlearn the idea that "seasoned" food must be covered in a bunch of spices.

Garlic powder is yummy, but no amount of it will cover up food that's lacking salt, acid, proper browning, etc. Plus your garlic powder is probably expired anyway.

SUGAR
The easiest way to start incorporating spices into your cooking, so they complement your main ingredients, is to spice according to specific cuisines or regions.

Most cultures have spices, or combos of them, that are most commonly used within that cuisine. So when spicing, we recommend choosing a cuisine or flavor profile to aim for.
What does that even mean? This advice is so vague.

If you want your chicken to have Mexican flavors, you don't have to choose from the whole spice cabinet, just a few. Like improvising a solo within the pentatonic scale. It will all sound good.
